Your Floral Consultation
Purchasing the flowers for your wedding takes
time and thought. While the flowers are
frequently one of the last items purchased after
the dress, the caterer and many of the other
details, flowers are still an important component
but you may or may not be comfortable making a
selection because you are not a flower expert.
A Classic Florist can provide the help you need
through our Bridal Consultation process. This
free service allows you to meet with a trained
designer to review your color palette, the time of
year of the wedding, your favorite flowers and the
theme of your wedding event.
Based on these factors as well as your
preferences and budget, you and the designer
will come up with a collection of wedding flowers
that will add beauty and color to your wedding
and reception.
The process takes about an hour and should be
done with an appointment to minimize
interruptions.
1) Take a moment to think of a budget for your wedding
flowers - Wedding planners say that flowers are usually 5-10% of
the total wedding budget, depending on whether the reception hall
offers centerpieces as part of their banquet package.
2) Collect pictures - bouquets or flowers that you like, pictures of
the bride's and bridesmaids' dresses, centerpieces that represent
your theme. Bring everything to the consultation so your florist see
the colors, textures and styles that you like.
3) Prepare a list of your wedding party and service details - A
single sheet of paper with the date and time of the service and
reception, addresses and phone numbers of the bride and groom,
number of people in the wedding party, number of tables at the
reception are all details that can save you time with your florist and
any other services you are interviewing.
4) Research quality florists before making an appointment -
Check out the websites of florists in your area. Ask family, friends
or your wedding planner for recommendations. Don't be afraid to
interview more than one florist. Each florist will have their own
interpretation of your wishes and you might find you like one
interpretation more than another.
5) Listen to your florist's advice when making your final
decision - A quality florist will do their best to match the best
design and flower selection to your needs and wishes. But they will
also make you aware of potential problems with your selections.
The goal is to produce a floral design that will accent your wedding
without wilted or broken flowers that will not last until the
reception.
6) Have fun with your selection - Selecting your wedding flowers
should be a fun experience. You florist is there to help you with the
process. They are happy to show you samples of flowers and
designs and to customize your bouquet to make it a special memory.

You, the bride, know
how busy you are trying
to cover all the details
of the wedding.
However, there are
some things you can
do to make the
consultations with the
florists you interview
go more smoothly and
make the best use of
your time.
